Eric was born September 6,1992 in Ottawa weighing in at 2000 grams or 4 lbs. 6 oz. He was the only son of Billy Gutknecht and Valerie Wiens and he had only, one sister, Elizabeth.
He went to Kemptville Public School followed by North Grenville District High School.
His Favorite classes were photography, psychology, philosophy, and war history.
Eric was an avid reader and read well over 250 books and had quite a personal library.
Eric loved to play soccer and hockey and did so for most of his short life.
In soccer he played locally for the Kemptville Kougars up to and including the premier league.
In hockey he played for the Kemptville Panthers, the Brockville Braves and the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings.
Eric worked briefly for Tim Hortons in Kemptville and he also delivered the Ottawa Citizen for over 3 1/2 years, up to his date of death.
Eric was witty, charming, with a keen sense of humour. He was quirky and certainly unpredictable. He made friends easily and stood up proud for those he cared about.
June 25th, 2010 was his last day with us and he left a terrible void. He will be forever loved and missed by his parents, his sister Elizabeth and her spouse Chris, and his nephews Jacob and Myles and his niece Emily, and his entire extended family and friends.
